Here’s What Prompted Trump To Say He Could Literally Bash Joe Biden

Of all of Trump‘s foibles, the funniest is his contention that, despite being a 71-year-old man who subsists on a diet of McDonald’s and overdone steak and only does anything approaching exercise on the golf course, he is in fact extremely physically powerful. Such was his claim when he posted a seemingly random tweet saying he was – to put it lightly – going to bash Joe Biden.

Going down fast and hard, crying all the way, at the hands of Trump would almost certainly not be a gratifying experience for anyone, let alone a former Vice President of the United States. What did Biden do to invite this brutal salvo?

Turns out Biden was talking at an event at the University of Miami earlier this week when he called Trump the “fattest, ugliest SOB in the room”.

He made the comments while addressing students about sexual assault on campus. “Guys, any man on campus who sees a fraternity brother taking a drunken co-ed up the stairs and doesn’t walk up and say, ‘Not in my house’ is a damn coward,” Biden said. “Flat, simple coward. Coward!”

It was a pretty easy leap from there to Trump, and his frequently discussed ‘locker room comments’.

“I’ve been in a lot of locker rooms my whole life,” Biden said. “I’m a pretty damn good athlete. Any guy who talked that way was usually the fattest, ugliest S.O.B. in the room.”

As you can see, there’s nothing in what Joe said here which specifically implies a physical threat. But Trump’s tweet also points toward another incident back in 2016 when Biden more clearly said he would bash Trump if they were in high school:

A guy who ended up becoming our national leader said, ‘I can grab a woman anywhere and she likes it,’” Biden said, referencing Trump’s bragging about sexual assault in a 2005 recording. “They asked me if I’d like to debate this gentleman, and I said no. I said, ‘If we were in high school, I’d take him behind the gym and beat the hell out of him.’”
