Tony Abbott’s Latest ‘On Water Matter’ Is Getting Clobbered By A Surfboard

Say what you want about former Prime Minister Tony Abbott (seriously, do it, we know we have) but you cannot deny the fella is a tough nut. The same burly drive that saw him through an amateur boxing career and his infamous shirt-fronting challenge to Vladimir Putin continues in his everyday sporting endeavours.

Ol’ mate Tones’ surfing is no exception, but it appears the ocean itself is a foe Abbott hasn’t totally conquered. This morning, Abbott revealed in a Tweet that he was admitted to Manly Hospital, and received a few stitches for an injury sustained on the water.

According to the Sydney Morning Herald, a coupla locals in Sydney’s Northern Beaches described the surf conditions as reasonably chilled. So, after some careful deliberation on our part (read: wild, unhinged speculation), we can only conclude Abbott was bonked by his own board as cosmic retribution for dropping in on a young gun earlier this year.

The Member for Warringah is now back at work following his hospital visit. Shakas, brah.
