Police Taser NSW Man After Toilet Paper-Related Argument, So Can We All Calm The Fuck Down

A man has been tasered by police following a toilet paper-related argument at a Tamworth Big W, just in case you were wondering how Australia is going right now.

Police were called to the Tamworth Shoppingworld store at approximately 10am on Thursday morning after a fight broke out over toilet paper. LITERAL TOILET PAPER.

“Police have been told a 50-year-old man began to argue with a staff members and another customer before he assaulted them,” a NSW spokesperson told nine.com.au.

“Officers attended and during the man’s arrest, he was tasered.”
“He was then taken to Tamworth police station where he is assisting police with their inquiries.”

According to 9 News, the fight broke out over toilet paper, which is now a scarce resource after people began stockpiling amid coronavirus fears.

I’m going to interrupt this story to remind you all that most of our toilet paper is produced within Australia, so there’s frankly no need to get into a fight at your local Woolworths over it.

Kimberly-Clark (the manufacturer of Kleenex) is currently producing toilet paper 24 hours a day to keep up with demand. But may I remind you, their factory in South Australia is not impacted by the coronavirus outbreak, so there’s really no reason to panic-buy.

Australia’s chief medical officer Brendan Murphy confirmed that the toilet paper stockpiling is unnecessary in a Senate hearing yesterday.

“We are trying to reassure people that removing all of the lavatory paper from the shelves of supermarkets probably isn’t a proportionate or sensible thing to do at this time,” Prof Murphy said.
“We are a well-prepared health system but even the best-prepared health systems can face a challenge if you have large outbreaks.”
The man was taken to Tamworth police station, where he is currently assisting police with their inquiries. No charges have been laid at this point.
