NSW Police Looking For Men In Connection With Alleged, I Shit You Not, Toilet Paper Thefts

In some ways, the only really ridiculous thing is that it’s taken this long to get us to this point: NSW Police have this afternoon released an image of two men they would like to speak to in connection to a string of, would you even believe, toilet paper thefts that allegedly occurred at a strong of supermarkets in Sydney’s south west this past weekend.

Police assert that two men entered several supermarkets in the suburbs of Granville, Auburn, Bass Hill, and Lidcombe between 7:00pm and 8:30pm on Sunday evening. There, they gained access to restricted staff-only stock areas and allegedly stole multiple packs of toilet paper from the Granville and Auburn stores. The men were said to have left the Bass Hill and Lidcombe stores empty-handed.

In addition, police are investigating reports that one of the men threatened an employee at the Auburn store with a knife.

Police officials at the Wetherill Park Region Enforcement Squad have this afternoon released an image of two men they believe can help with their investigations into the alleged incidents.

NSW Minister for Police and Emergency Services David Elliott stated that he “supports any measures taken by police to protect our communities from this sort of disgraceful criminal activity,” and that “The people of NSW will not tolerate criminal behaviour at any time let alone during this crisis. People need to grow up and look out for our most vulnerable.”

Anyone with information on the incidents is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
