Tinder Unveils ‘More Genders’ Option To Better Represent Aussie Diversity

Tinder

Tinder has released an update enabling transgender Australians to more accurately represent their gender on the dating app, freeing right-swipers nationwide from the confines of ‘male’ and ‘female’.

Transgender, gender fluid, and non-binary users can now select the ‘More Genders’ option, and can type the term which best represents their identity from the app’s new menu screen.

All users can now choose to display their gender on their profile – or not. Your call, mates.

Tinder worked in collaboration with Transgender Victoria to craft the update.

Transgender Victoria’s spokesperson Sally Goldner said the update will have significant benefits for transgender and gender diverse Australians, as it will “help people across cultures be and be seen positively as who we are, both individually and collectively, which is vital for our health and well-being, including self-esteem.”

More Genders has already been rolled out in the US, the UK, Canada, France, Spain, and Germany, under the guidance of those regions’ local advocacy groups.

The update comes just before Tinder’s All Types, All Swipes float in the Sydney Gay And Lesbian Mardi Gras.
