Pro golfer Tiger Woods has been taken to hospital after being involved in a major car crash in Los Angeles, according to local authorities.

The single-vehicle collision resulted in Woods’ car sustaining “major damage”, according to the LA County Sheriff’s Department.

“On February 23, 2021, at approximately 7:12AM, LASD responded to a single-vehicle roll-over traffic collision on the border of Rolling Hills Estates and Rancho Palos Verdes,” a statement read.

Woods reportedly had to be cut out of the vehicle using the “jaws of life”, and was then transported to a nearby hospital where it is believed that he will undergo surgery for his multiple leg injuries.

“The driver and sole occupant was identified as PGA golfer, Eldrick “Tiger” Woods. Mr Woods was extricated from the wreck with the “jaws of life” by Los Angeles County firefighters and paramedics, then transported to a local hospital by ambulance for his injuries,” a statement on Twitter read.
