An actor from the U.S. has decided to demonstrate, very literally, just how much time per movie is dedicated to people of colour.
Spoiler: it isn’t much.
By creating videos and gifs, Dylan Marron cuts all lines that are spoken by Caucasians, and edits films down to just scenes featuring lines spoken by a person of colour. He features all of these videos and gifs on the Tumblr account, Every Single Word.
He shows us the harrowing reality of just how little non-white people are represented in the film industry – even in films that are about non-white cultures. Such as ‘Noah’, which features a whole of ZERO words spoken by a person of colour.
