This Guy Will Replace Gerard Butler in Still-Ill-Advised ‘Point Break’ Remake

When Gerard Butler bowed out from the remake of Point Break due to realising it was a terrible idea and that he is (with respect) far too old “scheduling commitments”, Alcon Entertainment failed to take it as a sign that the ’90s classic should remain in the ’90s. Instead, they’re now in talks with Venezuelan actor Edgar Ramirez to take on the role of Bodhi, once played by Patrick Swayze.

Ramirez is potentially best known for his skills in 2010’s French-German biopic series Carlos, a role for which he was nominated for a stack of awards, including a Golden Globe.
He was this guy in The Bourne Ultimatum:
And this guy in Zero Dark Thirty
He’ll join the likes of Home and Away alumni no one remembers Luke Bracey who’ll fill Keanu Reeve‘s shoes as Johnny Utah and Ray Winstone as his agency partner, originally played by Gary Busey.

The remake will be much the same as the original, with Utah once more infiltrating a gang of thieves but contrary to earlier reports, instead of surfing the new story will revolve around some other extreme sport. Perhaps extreme ironing?
The film is set for release in the States on August 7, 2015.
