There’s Nothing Like The Worst Tourism Campaign Ever

Here’s a drinking game. Have a swig of beer every time a fair dinkum Aussie stereotype crops up in this newly launched TVC for Tourism Australia’s “There’s Nothing Like Australia” campaign. From your first drink (tranquil surfer dudes) to your last (fireworks at the Opera House) you will hopefully have consumed enough alcohol to forget how much money was spent on this off-key abomination of reductive Australian stereotypes that seems to have been cryogenically frozen in the mid 80’s and only chanced upon now.

It could feasibly pass as a tourism ad spoof but sadly it’s the real thing. So yeah, ninety excruciating seconds of cultural cringe and koala-wielding cliches await you tourists! Come to Australia where the most annoying citizens in the world sing about how awesome they are.
