There’s A Petition For Moneybags Turnbull To Donate His PM Salary To Charity

Malcolm Turnbull is definitely not without fault, and we’re terribly excited for the thousands of op-eds that will no doubt be published in the next week or so about the lack of integrity and evil intentions belonging to our brand new Prime(d) Minister.
Turnz is the second richest pollie in our fair country (he is only surpassed by old mate Clive Palmer), and his net worth is a whopping $186 milli.
And so, because of his horrendously large wealth, someone has already started a petition to get Turnbull to donate his entire Prime Ministerial salary (approximately $300,000) to charity
Which we can totally understand – $186 million dollaz is more than most of us lowly civilans will see in our entire lifetimes – what actually is an extra $300k to him? Pocket change, really.
But with that said, (let’s not even get into discussing why anyone would work (especially in one of the most difficult jobs in the world) for free, but you guys should probably know that the dude actually contributes heaps of his money to charity, very regularly.
For example:
  • He and his wife Lucy run the Turnbull Foundation, which makes regular donations to charities.
  • e.g. In 2001, the Turnbull Foundation donated $93,000 to the Redfern Foundation to purchase vans to assist with general transport for Indigenous families in inner Sydney.
  • He does the CEO Sleepout for St Vincents every year.
  • He even organised an auction to sell ~that leather jacket~ that he wore on Q&A that one time. It sold for $1.8k, and donated that to the Sydney Wayside Chapel
It’s still nothing he can live without, and he could definitely be donating more – we’re not disputing that. But damn ya’ll, after 6 hours of being the PM, he hasn’t even earned a single day of his annual salary yet.
Why don’t we chill for a hot sec, yeah? Let’s maybe allow the man to move his expenno antique furniture into Kirribilli House first, then let’s hound him relentlessly for his ca$h.
