It’s On, Again

Sky News is reporting that Liberal MP Peter Dutton has handed over a petition bearing the names of 43 other sitting members to Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull, asking the PM to hold a party room meeting and to call another spill motion to determine the next leader of the Liberal Party.

Essentially, it’s on. Again.

Turnbull previously pledged to hold the a party room meeting at midday today in order to settle the ongoing leadership crisis devouring the Liberal Party, and the Coalition government more broadly. All that needed to happen? For him to see that signed petition.

He said he won’t contest a potential spill motion, but current Treasurer Scott Morrison and Foreign Minister Julie Bishop are both expected to have a crack at the leadership, along with Dutton himself.

Brace yourselves, folks. We could have a new prime minister by this afternoon.
