Relationship breakdowns are always depressing as shit, but it somehow becomes more depressing when the people involved spend their lives pretending to be ecstatically happy in front of tiny babies for a living. Like when those Hi-5 people broke up. I swear two of them were dating. Whatever! You know what I mean.

Emma Watkins and Lachlan Gillespie, two of The Wiggles (she’s the Yellow one, he’s the Purple one) got married two years ago and have been extremely cute on social media since.
“We have, and continue to share, the most beautiful life together, but we wanted to let you know that privately for the last six months we have been navigating through a trial separation, and we have made the decision to separate as a couple,” they told The Daily Telegraph.
It doesn’t look like either of them is dropping out of the band, which is wild – like props to them for somehow remaining on good terms and touring the world together after separating, but I sure as fucking shit would not be keen on THAT. Unless my job was throwing oranges in the face of my ex every night, which may/may not happen at Wiggles gigs, who knows. Kids be crazy.
“Throughout that period, we have performed hundreds of shows together and that is always a continued source of joy for us both. We have embraced this as a very positive change in our relationship. Our incredible friendship has been strengthened throughout this time and what we have discovered is that, more than ever, first and foremost we love and adore performing as Emma and Lachy in The Wiggles and having the privilege of celebrating this happiness with extraordinary families around the world. We have chosen a different path to travel in our personal lives, but please know that we are stronger than ever and we can’t wait to see you at a show soon. Most recently Emma made headlines after revealing her difficult battle with endometriosis, garnering praise for generating awareness around the issue.
The news has been met with shock in the “Wiggles community” (lol) because both Emma and Lachy have continued to post promotional pics and candid photos throughout their trial separation. Also I’m just going to quietly say Lachy is really hot, guys. I’M JUST SAYING IT OBSERVATIONALLY.
In all seriousness though, good on them for somehow not ripping each other’s throats out, I say. It’s all very Gwyneth Paltrow conscious-uncoupling, no?
