‘The Revenant’ Leads Charge Of 2016 Oscar Noms, Followed By ‘Mad Max’

The race for the Golden Man is officially on, after the nominees for the 88th Academy Awards were announced overnight.

Guillermo del Toro and Ang Lee, John Krasinski and Academy President Cheryl Boone did the honours, with reporters chomping at the bit to see if Leonardo DiCaprio‘s ‘The Revenant’ would take home the bacon.
It did, with 12 nominations, followed by ‘Straya‘s own ‘Mad Max: Fury Road’ on 10.
Leo is *surely* a dead cert for Leading Actor – though Eddie Redmayne‘s transgender turn in ‘The Danish Girl’ could lead to some stiff competition – while the Leading Actress field is open slather, with Cate Blanchett (Carol), Jennifer Lawrence (Joy) and Brie Larson (Room) all amazing and all in the mix.
