The Most RT’d Tweet Of All Time Now Belongs To The Kid Fangin’ For Nugs

Cop this squarely into your face, Ellen DeGeneres, Brad Pitt, Jennifer Lawrence, Meryl Streep, Kevin Spacey, Julia Roberts, Angelina Jolie, Bradley Cooper, Lupita Nyong’o, Jared Leto, and Channing Tatum!
The famous Oscars selfie that “broke” the internet back in 2014 has held the lofty mantle of the most re-tweeted tweet of all time for a solid three years. But now it has finally been dethroned.
By a kid who really, really wants chicken nuggets.
A fair few of you might already be well across this yarn, but on the off-chance you’re not, here’s the skinny:
An intrepid, hungry young man by the name of Carter Wilkerson petitioned US eatery Wendy’s for a year’s supply of free nuggets in exchange for sweet, sweet retweets. The tweet, posted back in early April, caught the attention of the internet, and now as result it is officially the most re-tweeted tweet in the history of Twitter.

At the time of writing, Carter’s tweet had 3,508,269 RTs to its name, beating out Ellen’s star-studded Oscars selfie which currently sits on 3,434,454.

The tweet from Wilkerson, who spearheaded a #NuggsforCarter campaign in order to get his sweet, nuggety, golden brown goal, has officially been recognised as the new world record-holder by the good folk at Guinness.

That number still falls well short of Wendy’s original – and outrageously lofty – goal of 18 million retweets. But smashing the world record for most RTs has apparently been enough to convince the purveyor of glorious Baconators to come through with the nuggety goods.

Not only does Carter get the year’s supply of free nuggets, but he managed to raise $100,000 for the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption, which helps foster care children find permanent homes.

A world record, a year of free food, and a sizeable donation to charity.

Chicken nuggets are the most pure thing on earth.
