The tweet from Wilkerson, who spearheaded a #NuggsforCarter campaign in order to get his sweet, nuggety, golden brown goal, has officially been recognised as the new world record-holder by the good folk at Guinness.
Congratulations to @carterjwm who just broke @TheEllenShow‘s record for most retweeted tweet on @Twitter #NuggsForCarter pic.twitter.com/gwKyq8zmfP
— GuinnessWorldRecords (@GWR) May 9, 2017
That number still falls well short of Wendy’s original – and outrageously lofty – goal of 18 million retweets. But smashing the world record for most RTs has apparently been enough to convince the purveyor of glorious Baconators to come through with the nuggety goods.
.@carterjwm is now the most retweeted tweet of all-time. That’s good for the nuggets, and $100k to @DTFA. Consider it done. #nuggsforcarter pic.twitter.com/k6uhsJiP4E

Not only does Carter get the year’s supply of free nuggets, but he managed to raise $100,000 for the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption, which helps foster care children find permanent homes.
We did it guys! Thanks to you’re help and support we were able to raise $100k for @DTFA and beat @TheEllenShow record! Now let’s get 18mil!

A world record, a year of free food, and a sizeable donation to charity.
