Sydney Shooting At Redfern’s Norfolk Hotel

Popular Sydney watering hole The Norfolk Hotel located in the historically dodgy suburb of Redfern has been the target of a mysterious drive-by shooting.

At around 3:50am this morning gunshots were heard outside the pub which, fortunately, was closed at the time so no one was injured. We spoke to the only current witness Paul Simon, owner of a bakery across the street (hence why he was up and about at such an ungodly hour), who said “I heard 4 or 5 gunshots. I saw the flashes of the gun. One [of the bullets] hit my window. I dropped to the floor. I was scared.”

Paul Simon: “I was scared”

We also spoke to the Norfolk Hotel’s co-owner, Jamie Wirth, who didn’t have any suggestions of who might be responsible for the shooting. He said “I have no idea. At this stage it could be a disgruntled patron – who knows?”

When the local police arrived on scene this morning they found a number of holes in the front of the premises as well as bullets on the ground, and told Pedestrian they are CSI-ing the area.

The Norfolk will resume trade and we understand that no tacos were harmed in the incident.

Witnesses can call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
