The Abercrombie Reopens Today, Insists They Are Not Owned By John Ibrahim

It’s been a helluva week for The Abercrombie which suffered “significant fire and water damage” from a suspected arson attack Tuesday night (coincidentally, sister pub The Norfolk was the target of a drive-by shooting late last year) as well as ongoing media reports linking them to Sydney underworld figure John Ibrahim. Today, ownership have denied those claims in a statement which also confirmed their reopening.

“To set a media rumor straight as well…we are not owned by John Ibrahim. There has been significant and ongoing misreporting on this topic since we opened. The hotel is owned by Frasers Property and leased by James Wirth & James Miller (owners of the Norfolk, Carrington and Forresters). All other rumors are false.

Thank you for everyone’s support over these last stressful few days. It means a lot.”

The doors should be open by the time you read this so head on down, they’ll surely appreciate it. And if you need further incentive here’s a picture of their luscious new pork burger.

And here’s our chat with publican/owner Jaime Wirth.
