Here’s All The Sydney Councils Where It’s Now Mandatory To Wear A Face Mask Indoors

Sydney

NSW Health has now made face masks mandatory at all public indoor venues across the Sydney CBD, Eastern Suburbs and Inner West as COVID-19 cases continue to climb.

The new rule applies to the City of Sydney, Bayside Council, the City of Canada Bay Council, Inner West Council, Randwick City Council, Waverley Council and Woollahra Municipal Council local government areas, and will be in effect until Thursday, June 24.

As a rule of thumb, you should remember to wear a mask at public indoor venues east of Concord, this side of the bridge.

“I know all of us are a bit fatigued after so many months of living with COVID but we can’t drop now,” NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian said on Sunday.

“We have to make sure we aren’t complacent and make sure we are complying to what we are asking you to do.

“We don’t want to extend further restrictions unless we must.”

Indoor venues where masks are now mandatory include shopping centres, hairdressers, salons, cinemas, places of worship and aged care facilities. You can see a more comprehensive list here.

Outside of those local government areas, masks are also compulsory on public transport across Greater Sydney, the Blue Mountains, Wollongong and Shellharbour.

A bunch of new COVID-19 exposure sites have also been announced across Sydney, including multiple shops at the Birkenhead Point outlet centre in Drummoyne. You can check the full list of exposure sites in NSW here.

People who are considered to be close contacts are being asked to get tested immediately and isolate for 14 days regardless of the result.

As for the rest of us, we should get tested as soon as we show any symptoms, and if possible, get vaccinated, too.
