A 53-year-old Sydney man is facing court today on charges of knowingly infecting a woman with HIV, bestiality, and possessing ammunition without holding a licence or permit.
A woman had initially made a report to police alleging that the man had knowingly infected her with the communicable disease.
Police launched an investigation, and arrested the man yesterday at a Rozelle business. A search of the man’s backpack produced a liquid believed to be prohibited drugs, and ammunition. The items were seized and will undergo forensic analysis.
Police will allege that he not only infected the woman with HIV – which carries a charge of grievous bodily harm – but that he also sexually assaulted an animal.
The man was refused bail, and is appearing before Newtown Local Court today.
