Someone Vandalised The Lindt Cafe Last Night

Police were called to the Lindt Cafe in Sydney’s Martin Place just after midnight last night, after a number of windows were smashed with rocks.

Staff arrived this morning to find at least six holes in the windows, while officers continued with their investigations.

Witnesses said a ‘suspicious-looking man’ was hanging around the area after the attack. Police are currently looking for a man in his 40s, with ‘facial hair and tanned skin,’ who they believe will be able to assist with investigations. CCTV footage is also being examined.

The cafe is now closed.

Vandalism itself isn’t news – it happens every day, and even the Lindt cafe staff acknowledged that sometimes it’s just random. But while this might just be a random attack, it’s a particularly heavy blow for a cafe that reopened just a few months ago, following the siege that cost the lives of 34-year-old Tori Johnson and 38-year-old Katrina Dawson

The cafe reopened on March 20 this year, with two gold plaques dedicated to Johnson and Dawson.
