Rebel Wilson Takes On Queen For ‘Super Fun Night’, Critics Unimpressed With Pilot

The highly anticipated comedy series from Australia’s own glam comedienne Rebel Wilson has released its latest promo video for her own show Super Fun Night, ahead of its October 2 premiere, and like every comedy promo ought to have, Rebel Wilson kills it while performing a passionate rendition of Queen’s Dont Stop Me Now, for no real reason other than demonstrating further that she’s a goddamn legend.

The pilot for Super Fun Night has been released to critics in the US over the weekend, and despite our best hopes for Rebel to officially be known as Gen Y’s answer to US comedy-hopping Toni Collette, the reviews are less glittering than one would imagine, considering Rebel’s tendency to decorate her flawless self with impressive, dazzling bling. One critic armed with a tenuous pun, Chuck Barney, was clearly unimpressed with what the show had to offer: “Super fright night is more like it. This show is so painful and cringe-inducing that it’s scary.”

Another critic, Robert Bianco had similar feelings of Meh towards the show that we had such high hopes for: “Wilson certainly gives it her all, but too often, her all either isn’t
enough or proves too much. Still, in a relatively bland season, Wilson
is most certainly anything but, and that’s reason enough to give Fun a
shot.
” Damn right, GIVE THE GURL A SHOT.

And Rebel Wilson once again had to tame the haters over the weekend and reassure them that she is allowed to make fun of herself, sigh, after she recieved criticism for making fun of her own weight. According to Metro, Wilson bluntly stated, “As long as I look like this, I’m going to make fat jokes.”

Super Fun Night official synopsis:
Junior attorney Kimmie Boubier (Rebel Wilson) and her two best
friends Helen-Alice (Liza Lapira) and Marika (Lauren Ash) have had a
standing date every Friday night for the last 13 years. They even have a
motto for what they call “Friday Night Fun Night”: “Always together!
Always Inside!” However, Kimmie’s recent promotion throws a monkey
wrench into the tradition. Not only is she now working with her idol,
“Lady Lawyer of the Year” Felicity Vanderstone (Kelen Coleman), but she
meets a dashingly handsome British attorney, Richard Lovell (Kevin
Bishop), who invites her to his party at a trendy club. Determined to
spend time with Richard and heed Felicity’s advice to network, Kimmie
sets out to convince her friends to take Super Fun Night on the road.
