QLD Firies Rescued A Dog & Koala From An Old Mine Shaft & We Can’t Even

Firies in Ipswich, Queensland, have completed a daring rescue of two damsels in distress, a very good doggo and his koala bro, from a disused mine shaft earlier today.

Apparently, two dogs chased a koala all the way into a 30-foot deep mineshaft yesterday. One dog managed to scramble out of the hole, but his doggo brother did not. Their owner went looking for him this morning and found the two trapped animals.
Queensland Fire and Emergency Services and the RSPCA coordinated their response, using large animal bags and ropes to lift the pair to safety, after they deemed the mine shaft too unsafe for persons to enter.
Pupper enticed into a basket with treats and then was hauled up first. After trying for an hour, firies managed to trap the koala in a net, which he just used it to heave himself partway out. A member of the RSPCA finished the job, leaning over the side to pull the koala onto solid ground.

Koala bro is currently being treated at the wildlife hospital at Wacol, but has no broken bones from the incident. He does, however, appear to have very bad conjunctivitis and cystitis.
Pupper has been taken to his local vet by his owner, who is concerned the dog may have suffered fracture injuries.
Bless those firies and the RSPCA.
