Nine People Hospitalised After Apparent Mass Drug Overdose At Perth House

Nine people in their 20’s have been hospitalised in Perth, following an apparent mass drug overdose at a house party in the suburb of Victoria Park.

Emergency services were called to the premises just before midnight. Paramedics arrived on the scene to find the seven men and two women, believed to be foreign nationals, either unconscious or severely ill.

Four of those affected, thought to be either students or backpackers, are were admitted to the intensive care units at Royal Perth Hospital and Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital.

The five others are not believed to be in life-threatening conditions.

ABC reports that police have secured the area, and may have taken samples of a substance found on the premises for testing.

The Organised Crime unit is investigating, and authorities intend to release more information this afternoon.
