Please Observe This Total Champ Saving A Baby Dangling Off A Paris Balcony

A 22-year-old man has been praised for climbing four storeys of a Paris apartment building to rescue a toddler left dangling off a balcony, because come on, that’s just undeniably heroic.

On Saturday, Mamadou Gassama was eating with friends in the French capital when he says he heard a serious commotion from across the street. He told Le Parisien that he ventured outside to see the youngster hanging off the ledge.

Gassama then made the ridiculously gutsy decision to climb the building to rescue the kid. Within a minute, the tyke was safe.

Gassama told the paper he “did not think of the risk,” and that he’d do it again. Naturally.

The sensational rescue has obviously sparked interest in Gassama, an undocumented migrant from Mali who only arrived in France a few months ago.

After the incident, Parisian mayor Anne Hidalgo thanked to Gassama on the phone. She told her Twitter following that the rescue was “an example for all citizens” and that “the City of Paris will obviously be keen to support him in his efforts to settle in France.”

Le Parisien reports the child’s father had left the boy unattended to go shopping, and was subsequently charged with leaving his son unsupervised. If found guilty, he could face a two years in prison and a $46,000 fine.
