Orlando Victim Whose Texts From Inside Pulse Went Viral Confirmed Dead

His name appeared in the list of victim’s names in the early hours of Monday morning (local time).

The flurry of messages between Eddie and his mum Mina Justice have been widely shared since this story broke, painting a picture of what was happening inside the club.

At 2:06am he wrote: “Mommy I love you. In club they shooting.”

Mina tried calling her son, but there was no answer.

At 2:07am he wrote: “Trapp in bathroom.”

At 2:08am: “I’m gonna die.”

Eddie and Mina continued to message between then and 2:51am. Their final messages are as follows.

[2:49am] Eddie: “Hurry. He’s in the bathroom with us.”

[2:49am] Mina: “Is the man in the bathroom wit u?”

[2:50am] Eddie: “He’s a terror.”

[2:51am] Eddie:“Yes.”

Mina didn’t hear from him again. Hours later she told media: “His name has not come up yet and that’s scary. It’s just… it’s just, I got this feeling. I got a bad feeling.”

And hours after that, Eddie Justice’s name appeared among the victim’s names. A GoFundMe page to raise money for his family and funeral costs has already attracted $4k in donations.

His cousin Mille Grubb Ortiz, who created the page, describes Eddie as “very loving and outgoing and the life of the party.”

“Eddie could walk in and the room would light up,” she wrote. “His smile was as bright as his future. He was also very upfront and outspoken and lived life to the fullest without any regrets. Eddie loved his mother and was a momma’s boy at heart. His mom is his best friend. Eddie has a gentle soul and would give you the shirt off his back.”

The City of Orlando is continuing to update the victims’ names as they identify each one and notify next of kin.
