Northern Beaches Cluster Swells To 28 Cases With Gladys Warning We Need To ‘Get On Top Of It’

Sydney’s northern beaches coronavirus cluster has swelled to 28 coronavirus cases, after 10 new cases were recorded overnight.

Fronting media today, Premier Gladys Berejiklian had this message: “We do have the potential to get on top of it, however, it requires hard work from all of us.”

The entire northern beaches is being urged to stay home for three days (Friday to Sunday), avoiding high risk areas like clubs and not travelling outside the area if possible.

“I don’t want to understate how serious the outbreak is,” Berejiklian said.

“If we get on top of this in the next two or three days, all of us will be able to have a much better Christmas but if we don’t get on top of it in the next few days, it could mean further restrictions down the track.”

She urged anyone using public transport, shopping at supermarkets or attending places of worship to wear a mask.

There was a “significant seeding event” at the Avalon RSL on December 11, Chief Health Officer Kerry Chant said. Eight cases have been linked to the RSL, sixteen cases have been linked to an event at the Avalon Bowlo on December 13th, and two cases attended both events.
