Pls Keep An Eye Out For This Melb Man’s Cat, Before He Spends All His Cash On Billboards

If you’re in the Patterson Lakes area of Melbourne, please keep you eye our for Possum the cat. His owner has leaned into being Extremely Extra with the ‘Lost Cat’ signs (read: billboards) and honestly, I’m worried he’s going to spend a lot of money here.

Possum, the sweet deaf cat, went missing in the south-east suburbs of Melb about a week ago and once he’d realised the poor fluff had gone AWOL, Possum’s human Brett put up a sign. Like, a large sign. A really large sign. Right outside his house.

This oughta do it. (Image: Facebook)

Possum went MIA on November 25, and in efforts to try and reach more people than he would by simply printing out shitty A4 posters and taping them up to power poles like any other pet owner, Brett decided to make this eye-catching billboard. At first glance, it looks like he’s selling his house until you can see Possum’s big eyes staring back at you.

Now at Day 16 with no sighting of Possum, apart from one older woman who thought she saw him in a lion costume in Melbourne’s inner north (???), Brett has told PEDESTRIAN.TV that they’ve been trying everything to lure the sweet angel back home. Including, yes, the giant sign that is the most amount of money Brett’s spent on Possum in the six years they’ve been together.

“I have put up posters all over Patterson Lakes, little old ladies have even stopped me and helped put up posters,” Brett said.

“We have had his litter outside, food, some old clothes. At this stage if he is still alive we believe someone has him.”

It’s not the first time Possum has gotten out, but Brett says that this is the longest he’s been away from home.

“He has jailbroken from the house before but always stayed close and been home within a few hours. He was an inside cat though.”

Despite the fact he’s deaf and probably a little spooked from being away from his home and his family, Brett says Possum isn’t shy and will likely come right up to you for a cuddle if you spot him out and about.

So please, if you see Possum getting around, or he’s shown up on your back doorstep looking a bit confused, let Brett know. I can’t imagine what he might do next. More billboards? Skywriting? Memes?
