Michel Gondry Will Draw You For Less Than $100

Michel Gondry makes lovely drawings with the same whimsical, childlike panache of his film and video work – and he will draw a portrait of you for one easy payment of US$99.95 when you buy his latest DVD.

About a year ago he first started doing these hand drawn fan portraits (that quite resemble the work of Roald Dahl’s partner-in-crime, Quentin Blake). The deal being that you send in a photo of you and he sends back an illustration of you. Eventually, due to overwhelming demand he had to quell the deal – but while it was on he illustrated more than 1,000 lucky fans which he is now turning into a book.

In a recent interview with Collider the French filmmaker unveiled “1000 Portraits” – a coffee table book of 1,000 fan portraits that has gone to print.
