Max Berry Shares His Favourite Work

Last week we checked in on Beastman’s top five favourite pieces. This week, in our second preview of Creative Sydney’s installation and live painting event Scratching The Surface, (featuring Beastman, Max Berry, Numskull, Phibs and Roach) we let the work and artist speak for themselves in a look back at Max Berry‘s top five personal works.

This painting was done at the beginning of the year and was painted with an entirely new approach, for me its
still a favourite. ‘Desert mage’ Acrylic on wood

This image was used on the flyer of my recent solo exhibition ‘A search for ground in higher places’ at Oh Really
Gallery. I like to paint faces on things without faces. ‘A light in dark places’ acrylic on archival paper.

This is a 6m x 2m Billboard that ‘Ears’ and I painted early last year. Its part of a larger series run by the helpful
guys at LOOKprint called ‘Project Ugly’. ‘Bop’n Bango’ Aerosol on wood.

This is one of the dozen works I made for WeAreTheImageMakers 12×12 exhibition last year; 12×12 is a great
annual show that reveals some really amazing Australian artists. ‘The slaying of the Lernean Hydra’ Acrylic on canvas.

This is a sneak peek at what I’m working on at the moment, I’m going to call it ‘The Wishing Tree’. Acrylic on
archival paper.
