A rescue effort is underway in Melbourne to free a man trapped in a newly-dug grave in Eltham Cemetery, in Melbourne‘s south-east.
Footage from Nine News shows the grave cordoned off from surrounding areas of the cemetery, with a ladder descending into the open hole.

The man, who works at the cemetery, has sustained leg injuries and is too badly hurt to extract himself from the grave. He is in a stable condition. Emergency services are on the scene after receiving calls at around 7:45am.
Nine reports that rescuers fear the gravesite is not stable, and it may take some time to free the trapped man.
