Censorship is so shit, I nearly walked out of this place a few weeks back when I copped an order to tone it back. Actually that’s a lie; I did walk out, but 40 minutes or so later I walked back in. Yeah it sucks but what can you do.
What would suck even more is having easily one of your biggest covers ever knocked back by the conservative folk who distribute your paper gold, that’s what happened to the guys @ Monster Children with their latest issue: Issue #23 the ‘not so annual’ Photo Issue.
“This issue the cover situation is a little different to usual. Our Newsagent distributor didn’t share the same affinity for Hedi Slimane’s shot of Kate Moss’ breasts as us…” A statement on Monster Children’s website reads.
Their homing pigeon brothers obviously don’t have computers as even with safe searched switched on sensual pictures, or as they’re affectionately known on the web “nip slips,” of the one and only Kate Moss can be perused with ease.
Lucky for you the incriminating cover snap of Kate Moss reclined on her side knocking back an indoor cigi whilst cloaked only by a white slip and the odd puff of doona, shot by Hedi Slimane, will still get a run. A note on MC’s website is saying bookstores, online, and “some” lucky subscribers will get the honour of placing the elegantly dishevelled image of Ms.Moss in one of their expedit cubbyholes.
