Jeremy Renner’s Rep Responds After Ex-Wife Alleges He Threatened To Kill Her

Avengers star Jeremy Renner has denied ex-wife Sonni Pacheco‘s claims that he discussed killing her, after she tabled new court documents in a custody dispute over their six-year-old daughter Ava.

Pacheco, who was married to Renner for ten months before filing for divorce in 2014, reportedly laid the claims as part of her application for sole custody over Ava. The application also asks for Renner’s visits to be monitored.

According to TMZ, Pacheco alleged someone overheard Renner in a nightclub in November last year discussing how he “could not deal with her anymore, and he just wanted her gone.”

She also alleged a nanny once overheard Renner threatening to visit Pacheco’s home and saying “it was better that Ava had no parents than to have [her] as a mother.”

Separately, Pacheco reportedly alleged Renner threatened to kill himself and fired a handgun into the ceiling while Ava was in the house.

A representative for Renner disputed Pacheco’s accusations that he threatened harm against her and himself, and denied the Hurt Locker actor has an ongoing substance abuse issue which could impact Ava’s safety.

“The well-being of his daughter Ava has always been and continues to be the primary focus for Jeremy,” a representative told TMZ.

“This is a matter for the court to decide. It’s important to note the dramatizations made in Sonni’s declaration are a one-sided account made with a specific goal in mind.”

PEOPLE reports a court hearing is set for November 7, with both Pacheco and Renner set to attend child custody mediation.
