Ivanka Trump Is Nuking Her Fashion Label, Definitely Not Because No One Buys It

In news that will likely shock precisely zero of you, Ivanka Trump has announced that she is winding down her fashion line, definitely because she wants to focus on supporting her father in the White House and not because the clothes suck and nobody bought them. Absolutely not that last thing, no sir.

“After seventeen months, without a time frame for her return, Ivanka made the difficult decision that to be fair to the brand’s partners and its employees, the business should be wound down,” a representative said in a statement.

It follows retailers like Nordstrom, Sears and Kmart announcing throughout 2017 that they were scaling back their stock of Ivanka’s line. Despite Trump supporters alleging this happened for political reasons, the retailers maintained it was mostly because nobody was buying that shit.

Here’s Ivanka’s personal statement:

When we first started this brand, no one could have predicted the success that we would achieve. After 17 months in Washington, I do not know when or if I will ever return to the business, but I do know that my focus for the foreseeable future will be the work I am doing here in Washington, so making this decision now is the only fair outcome for my team and partners. I am beyond grateful for the work of our incredible team who has inspired so many women; each other and myself included. While we will not continue our mission together, I know that each of them will thrive in their next chapter.

The label has faced a number of problems since Donald became president and Ivanka joined him in the White House. There are a number of stringent restrictions on how one does business when they’re also working with the government, which were amplified by the fact that Ivanka reportedly refused to sell the brand.

Well, now she can fully focus her energies in laundering her old man’s efforts to lock up kids in cages. So that’s nice for her.
