Instagram’s Fave Astronaut Scott Kelly Touches Down After Year In Space

If you live and die by the ‘Gram, you’re probably familiar with the mad photography skills of NASA astronaut Scott Kelly.
With a prime possie from which to capture Earth through a fuck-off camera lens – the International Space Station – he’s provided us with amazing photos of the world we live in for the last almost-year.

He also successfully grew a space flower garden, which is bloody cool.
Now, after a record-breaking 340 days in space, Scott’s an Earthling once more after touching back down to Earth at about 11:27 pm ET in Kazakhstan (he’ll presumably be flown out of there).
He left the floating science lab with fellow cosmonaut Mikhail Kornienko, who’s also spent nearly a year on the orbiting ISS.
Scott not only touches back down on Planet Earth with more perspective than most of us will ever have, but a couple of world records under his belt:
1) He’s spent more consecutive days in space than any American.
2) He’s spent the most total number of days in space than any American, at 540.
Scott’s ‘Year In Space’ experiment to study the effects of microgravity on the human body, so that NASA can prep astronauts for longer flights to Mars and beyond.
Even though we kinda wish Scott was still up there for selfish reasons (them photos tho), we’re glad he’s back safe.
For old time’s sake, let’s all take a moment to appreciate his last-ever sunrise photo from space.

My last #sunrise from space. 5 of 5. #YearInSpace #space #spacestation #iss
