It’s been 84 years…
Sorry, no – that’s a little long. But it’s still been a very long time in between drinks of the Incredible kind – a whole 14 years, in fact. Now, finally, the first reviews of the much-anticipated sequel to 2004’s retro animated superhero hit The Incredibles are out, and people are fully frothing on it.

In case you’ve missed some of the hype, Incredibles 2 picks up right where the first one left off, with baby Jack-Jack having just revealed his prodigious powers, and the family back in villain-fighting mode. This time, however, it’s Helen Parr, aka Mrs Incredible, who gets the opportunity to Elastigirl away into superheroine hijinks and derring-do, while Bob (Mr Incredible) stays at home to take care of the baby. Also Frozone is there because there’d be panic in the streets if he wasn’t.
People are already calling it the best Pixar sequel since Toy Story 2 – which is massive praise, considering the dent that particularly flick left in all of our hearts.
I spent 14 years arguing that the world didn’t need an #Incredibles2 . After tonight, I would welcome an INCREDIBLES 3 with open arms.

INCREDIBLES 2 is easily Pixar’s best sequel since TOY STORY 3.
Pixar did a fantastic job taking the qualities of the Parr family from the first film and building upon that in this film.
Heads up, Jack Jack steals this whole movie. #Incredibles2

My spoiler-free thoughts on #Incredibles2: In a world full of heroes, it not only reverses “traditional” roles, but demonstrates the importance and challenges of raising a family. Fun for all ages & action-packed, it hits on a variety of emotional touchpoints #HeroesDontNeedCapes pic.twitter.com/s7bEWQX5xR

I thought #TheIncredibles was pretty much perfect already, but #Incredibles2 lives up to its predecessor in every way and then some. Fourteen years was too long to wait for a sequel this good! #fb

‘Incredibles 2’ is so real on parenthood. Full review, etc., coming soon, but I just had to mention that thought. It was like watching a hilarious documentary. Oh, and Jack-Jack is the best ever. pic.twitter.com/GkI61yNPMz

#Incredibles2 is funnier than the original, just as pure fun, and has a clearer message this time with some decent resolution. But I struggle to say it’s overall better or worse, and at the moment, I don’t really care. Just go see it and have a great time adoring Jack Jack.

There’s even people fangirling out about the score, which, actually, fair point. That music rules.
It goes without saying that @m_giacchino has crafted another outstanding score for #Incredibles2 . The first score contians one of my favorite themes ever, and he adds some cool new sounds this time. Stay through the credits to enjoy them in full.
