Hulu Won’t Be Bringing Community Back

Bad news for those still holding on to the faintest glimmer of hope that cult favourite Community would find life after NBC. The main player in revival talks has officially declared that it’s not interested in giving extra life to the Greendale Community College, just about signalling that, this time, the end really is the end.

Hulu has seemingly ended its talks with the shows’ owners, Sony Pictures Television. The online streaming platform was the principal negotiator, and the most logical home for any new episodes of the series, given that Sony has a pre-existing arrangement with the company that allows all previous Community episodes to be viewed on demand.
For what it’s worth, Sony remains optimistic in finding a new home for Community, but it’s timeline is short, and seemingly the darkest one. The deadline looming is June 30th, which is the date the cast’s contracts expire. Any efforts made after this date would be extremely difficult, if not out-and-out impossible. Still, at least Sony are trying.
So, sadly, that appears to be it. No more Greendale forever. No more Jeff, or Annie, or Britta, or Abed, or Troy, or Shirley. It’s time to let it go once and for all. It’s over. It’s done. That’s it.
Vale, Human Beings. We hardly knew thee.
