Homes Lost, Towns Evacuated As Out-Of-Control Fires Rage In Victoria

Firefighters are battling massive, fast-moving bushfires along the Great Ocean Road in Victoria, with four houses destroyed so far and many more under threat.

The towns of Wye River, Grey River, Kennett River and Separation Creek have been evacuated, with popular holiday destinations Lorne and Allenvale given orders to do the same.

Over 100 firefighters and 17 aircraft are working through the night to try to tame the 1,400 hectare monster blaze.

CFA deputy incident controller Mark Gunnings said he hoped people heed the warnings and evacuate immediately:

“We do recommend they leave early. We want people to be safe. We don’t want to hear of injuries.”
