Earlier this week Patrick Stevenson, Hobogestapo team member and winner of Pedestrian’s 2011 Ray-Ban Photography Awards, engaged in some Ryan Gosling style heroics when he ended a ‘hit and run’ incident on Sydney’s Cleveland St.
On Monday afternoon at approximately 5.45pm a “silver late model coupe” at the intersection of Cleveland and Young St ran a red light hitting a woman on a Vespa. Stevenson chased after the car on his pushbike (BMX Bandits anyone?) until it stopped at a Red Light at the corner of Cleveland and Crown St. Stevenson threw his bike in front of the car while another Motorist followed blocking it’s path. Police and ambulance were called to the scene with the Woman on the Vespa only suffering minor injuries.

“I was riding my pushbike east down cleveland st on my way into the hobo office around 5:45 (yeah I start work at 5:45pm, so what) I was behind a silver late model coupe as I approached the intersection of cleveland and young st. There was a bus in lane 1 and the car was in lane 2, there was a clear red light, as the car approached the intersection I noticed it wasnt slowing at all.
It ran the red and collided with a lady on a black vespa, the car managed to swerve and slam the brakes on but still hit the lady, she fell off her bike, I was 20metres behind the incident and noticed the car sped off.
I rode past the girl and screamed out “ill be right back!! im going to chase that car!” so I screamed off behind him, lucky for me there was a red light at the next intersection (crown and cleveland st) before he managed to come to a stop I zipped infront of him and slammed my pushy down infront of his car.I dont know what came over me but I got all footy-player abusive at him, trying to open his car and screaming at him that he just ran a red, hit a lady and sped off!!
By now another car had pulled up and was blocking the dudes coupe, I made sure they stayed with him and told them to call the police, I then rushed back to the girl and made sure she was ok, waited with her till the ambulance and police turned up, she is ok and only had some grazes, guy is getting fucked by the long dick of the law.”
