Harrowing Shots From Inside Grenfell Tower Emerge As Death Toll Rises To 17

Images from London’s burnt-out Grenfell Tower have emerged online, showing the total devastation caused by the inferno.

Shared online by Twitter user Declan Wilkes, the photos show the the interior of the building as totally charred, with some small fires still burning throughout the 27-storey apartment block.

One image shows emergency crews examining the devastation caused by the blaze.
The official death toll has risen to 17, although there is speculation that as many as 100 people be found to have died in the fire. 37 people are currently in hospital receiving treatment after the fire, with 17 in critical condition.
British Prime Minister Theresa May says there will be an exhaustive inquiry into the cause of the blaze, and how exactly it engulfed the tower block so quickly.

“Right now, people want answers, and it’s absolutely right.” May says.

“And that’s why I am today ordering a full public enquiry into this disaster. We need to know what happened. We need to have an explanation of this.

“We owe that, to the families, to the people who have lost loved ones, friends, and the homes in which they live.”

That enquiry comes amid mounting concerns that as many as 2,500 high-rises in NSW alone may be susceptible to similar blazes, on account of flammable exterior cladding.
