Donald Trump‘s brutal takedown of Hillary Clinton in last week’s US Election caught a lot of analysts and media ‘experts’ with their pants down. With the bizarre tirade of leaks coming out about the reality TV star’s vile past, polls showing him down several points and huge celebrity endorsements going his opponent’s way, it seemed Clinton would get in no sweat.
But one dude made the call – American University History Professor Allan Lichtman. His … unusual method of predicting election outcomes turned out to be right this time, predicting Trump would narrowly get in.
Now, he’s got another big call – this time based off a “gut feeling”. Lichtman reckons Trump will do something totally fked, giving the Republicans a chance to turf him out.
They don’t want Trump as president, because they can’t control him. He’s unpredictable. They’d love to have Pence – an absolutely down the line, conservative, controllable Republican. And I’m quite certain Trump will give someone grounds for impeachment, either by doing something that endangers national security or because it helps his pocketbook.”
Mike Pence, his running mate and probable VP, would be thrust into the hot seat.
That would make Trump the first president to get kicked out while in power, despite two earlier attempts by the house to boot Andrew Johnson in 1868, and Bill Clinton in 1998. Johnson tried to amass too much power over Congress, and Clinton infamously got that blowjob – two things that wouldn’t sound too surprising in a story about Trump.
He’s got four years from January 20 to hold on, so let’s see if he’s able to resist … well, being the Trump we all know and love.
Ah, America. It’s good to see they’re chasing the Aussie past-time of trying to kick out the boss of the country mid-term.
