Check It: Google Maps Is Shakin’ Things Up With A ‘Mario’ Navigator

Happy Mar10 Day folks (March 10 = Mario hehe), it’s time to celebrate our fave lil’ guy by turning the navigation arrow in Google maps into none other than Mario himself. No, really this is an actual thing thanks to the people at Nintendo and Google and it’ll be available for both Android and iPhone users around the world.

It also appears that Mario is the only icon you can change your arrow to so no chance of copping a random Waluigi on your map.

Bit cute.

So, how does it work?

According to Google, all you have to do is make sure your Google Maps app is up to date (you can check via the App Store or Google Play), then click the yellow question mark icon down the bottom right of the screen. It’s unmissable so no stress, then a little message will pop up asking you to enable Mario Time!

If you’ve updated your app and the yellow question mark still doesn’t come up then Google says to wait a couple of hours. We Aussies and Kiwis are a day ahead of everyone else, afterall. The add-on will be available all week though so there’s plenty of time for a road trip.

And ICYMI, it’s been a pretty big week for Nintendo. Yesterday they released a bunch of new content including a new Super Smash Bros. game which will be available on the Switch. There’s also Mario Tennis Aces which sounds like Wii tennis but better and will be available over multiple consoles. Detective Pikachu is available for pre-order and if you haven’t blessed your ears with snippets of this game yet, let me just say that it’s Pikachu with AN ADULT HUMAN VOICE. You can read more about it here.

Anyway, it’s time to rescue Princess Peach and avoid that bastard blue shell. (Not really.)

Happy Mar10 Day!
