‘Girls’ Polymath Lena Dunham To Create New Comedy

Writer, producer and star of HBO comedy show Girls, Lena Dunham, is rumoured to be creating a new comedy show for the same network about the life and work of a personal shopper in New York.

Teaming up with executive producer of Girls, Jenni Konner [INTERVIEW HERE] the pair are said to be working on the pilot, based on a memoir written by Betty Halbreich entitled ‘All Dressed Up and Everywhere to Go’.

Halbreich, now 85, is known for her work as a shopper for the Bergdorf Goodman department store since the 1970s, which saw her dressing the likes of Meryl Streep and Sarah Jessica Parker among the rich and famous of Manhattan.

Dunham, who has previously been described as a “more awkward, fatter version of Tina Fey” (a.k.a AWESOME), triumphed at the Golden Globes earlier this month with two wins for best comedy series and best actress in a comedy series for her work in Girls.

The aforementioned upcoming project will focus on capturing the New York style of the early Woody Allen films, while hopefully encompassing the awkward humour of Girls, which we’ve all come to know and love.
