FUCK YEAH: Campaign For 1st Museum Celebrating Oz Women Kicks Off In Melbs

Australia might be getting its first museum dedicated entirely to women, if a campaign launched today at a pop-up exhibition inside Melbourne Town Hall goes to plan.

Her Place is an exhibition exploring 9 women who made a cultural, social or economic impact on Australia, and will also host talks on women in sport, family violence and modern feminism.
The pop-up is hopefully just a taste of what’s to come – Her Place board chairwoman Mary Stuart says Australia is overdue for a dedicated women’s museum, and is confident they can get it.
The campaign for the museum has got the tick of approval from Melbourne‘s Lord Mayor Robert Doyle and probably anyone with a vested interest in seeing women’s role in Australia’s history given the correct amount of attention.
The exhibition runs from May 16th to June 3rd at Melbourne Town Hall, check it out.
