Emotional Memorial Service Marks 1 Year Anniversary Of Sydney Siege

Tonight, Sydney came together in a touching, reflective memorial ceremony to remember the events that occurred at the Lindt Cafe in Martin Place on this date last year.

Images of the flowers and notes that covered Martin Place last year were projected up on the side of buildings, as well as the words ‘We will not be divided’.

NSW Premier Mike Baird stood in front of the audience, and spoke of how proud he was of the response Sydney had in the aftermath of the attack:

And Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull also addressed the audience, and posted a moving tribute on his Facebook page:

The images emerging on social media are incredibly moving, and truly do show that in hard times, Australians will put solidarity and togetherness before anything else:

The Ascham Chamber Choir also performed a moving rendition of ‘Somewhere Over The Rainbow’ for the crowd:

“We will not be divided.”
