BBC Pulls Ed Westwick Drama Series After Allegations Of Sexual Assault

Production on Ed Westwick‘s popular comedy series White Gold has been temporarily paused, as recent allegations of sexual assault against the former Gossip Girl star are investigated.

In addition to this, the BBC has chosen to pull the actor’s upcoming drama series Agatha Christie’s Ordeal By Innocence from its Christmas schedule.

In a statement to the media, a BBC representative said that the three-part period drama will not be broadcast “until these matters are resolved”, adding:

“These are serious allegations which Ed Westwick has strenuously denied. The BBC is not making any judgement but until these matters are resolved we will not include Ordeal by Innocence in the schedules. The independent production company making White Gold has informed us that Ed Westwick has paused from filming while he deals with these allegations.”

Earlier this week, actress Kristina Cohen accused Westwick of sexually assaulting her three years ago; actress Aurelie Wynn later came forward with similar allegations.

In a Facebook post detailing her allegations, Wynn said:

“I kept quiet and soon got to see and hear how prevalent sexual assault and intimidation goes on in this industry…to the point where I questioned how much I really wanted to be in entertainment as I didn’t see it getting better. And at what cost?”

Ed Westwick has denied all the allegations against him, saying that it is “disheartening and sad” that he has been shunned as a result of two “unverified and provably untrue social media claims.”

He added that he is cooperating with authorities and expects his name to be cleared.
