Dreamworld Boss Says Rapids Ride “Stopped” Several Times On Day Of Accident

Dreamworld CEO Craig Davidson revealed the park’s Thunder River Rapids ride, on which four guests died last month“had stopped a couple of times throughout the day” but staff had not “shut down the ride for maintenance” at the time.
Speaking to ABC Radio, Davidson revealed the attraction’s operations were paused several times on October 25, but didn’t reveal exactly what caused those interruptions.
On the day, the ride had been stopped for up to 40 minutes at a time, according to unverified reports from other Dreamworld guests.
In response to public interest regarding the cause of the tragic accident which killed Kate Goodchild, Luke Dorsett, Roozbeh Araghi and Cindy Low, Davidson also reflected on the importance of a thorough investigation.
“We haven’t set a time frame… quite simply we will do this slowly, methodically and properly.”
Last Wednesday, Davidson announced the ride will be permanently decommissioned, and that “removing the ride is the most respectful and indeed the only appropriate option following the tragedy.”
The park remains closed at this time.
