Don’t Freak Out But Aubrey Plaza Is In A New Netflix Film By The ‘Legally Blonde’ Creators

Get ready for the movie of the century because Aubrey Plaza has been cast in Netflix’s latest rom-com, Hope.

We don’t know much about the storyline just yet, but the team that is working on this film have a resume that’s basically a bucket list of the best movies of all time. Hopefully the team behind it give us a great film and not another shitty Netflix original.

According to Collider, Hope is a rom-com that follows the story of a woman in her mid-30s who goes to extreme lengths to win her perfect man. The script will apparently discuss the pressure placed on women to settle down and find a partner. However, this is yet to be confirmed by Netflix.

The screenplay is written by Karen McCullah and Kirstin Smith, the duo behind Legally Blonde, 10 Things I Hate About You, The House Bunny and She’s The Man. They’re also currently working on the new animated Spice Girls film. So basically we should expect a 90s/00s-esque masterpiece.

Plaza, who won our hearts as April Ludgate in Parks and Recreation, has also starred in the likes of Scott Pilgrim vs The World and Dirty Grandpa. She’s also working as the film’s producer alongside Michael Costigan and Jason Bateman.

She took to Twitter to share the news.

Netflix originals can be pretty hit or miss, but Hope looks like it’s got a strong team behind it that are sure to make it a hit. Even if it’s not a huge success in the eyes of the fancy film awards, I’m sure it’ll be added to the rotation of easy watching films like Bring It On and Clueless to put on when you’re bored and want an easy laugh and a guaranteed good time.

There are a whole bunch of exciting new Netflix originals on the way including the sequel to To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before. Will they all be good? Probably not. But will I watch them all and hopefully find at least a few pieces of cinematic gold amongst the dirt? Yes.
