Dan Andrews Tells Bigots To Take A Seat As VIC Uploads Safe Schools Info

After months of sabre-rattling, Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews and Education Minister James Merlino have come through – again – on their promise to provide unfiltered Safe Schools content to kids in the state.

Today, the state has launched a new wing of the Education Department site, containing resources that were nixed or neutralised on the Federal site, and you better believe the head honchos have words for the haters.

Speaking to reporters a lil’ earlier today, Andrews straight-up said “I get my advice on policy from experts, not from bigots, not from people who really ought to be ashamed of themselves in terms of their views and their tampering with a program that actually works.”

He went on to blast Malcolm Turnbull’s leadership on the issue, which has seen fringe members of the Coalition attack components of the anti-bullying curriculum.

Andrews said “the journey that the prime minister has been on – you know, talk a good game, pretend that you’re a progressive and then either do nothing, or do nothing good – that is not national leadership Mr Turnbull.”

Those comments come after Merlino said “we have never agreed with the watering down of this program… we’re not going to accept that and we’re going to be putting all of the resources on the Education Department’s website.”

Previously, Merlino pledged the state would self-fund the program in their high schools should the Federal Government remove their financial support. ‘Cause if it stops vulnerable kids from taking their own lives, you may as well, right?

If you’re so inclined, you can visit the new site and download PDF versions of the resources riiiight here.
