Check Out This Incredible Special Effects Reel From ‘Game Of Thrones’

Everyone with even a mild appreciation of the visuals contained within everyone’s favourite pirated series Game of Thrones will have some idea that a fair bit of work is put into making the show look fresh till death. But you might not realise exactly how freaking much goes into the CGI side of things to create all the enormous backgrounds, buildings, and armies of unfathomable size.

Rodeo FX is the name of the company behind the VFX work on GoT, and by the looks of things, whatever it is they’re getting paid isn’t nearly enough. They’ve put together this handy (and really, really, really damned cool) showreel that displays a whole bunch of before and after shots from Thrones’ fourth season.
Whilst there is some green screen action at work, it’s surprisingly kept to a minimum, with entire settings rendered using little more than a fixed horizon.
It’s an unassailably cool look into how your favourite places in Westeros are constructed for the screen.
