BUOY-O-BUOY: Airbnb Is Renting A Floating Bedroom On The Great Barrier Reef

Not to be all morbid but, at the rate at which we’re fucking up the Great Barrier Reef, who knows how much longer it’ll be in pristine enough state for us – and the rest of the world – to enjoy as we have for decades.
According to the Australian Research Council’s Centre of Excellence for Coral Reef Studies, most of the coral in the central region of the reef is now dead as a doornail due to pollution and other human factors.
It’s a bleak AF outlook, but if there’s one good thing to come out of all the news about coral bleaching etc it’s a renewed enthusiasm to help protect, preserve and enjoy what’s left of our country’s underwater treasure.
It’s part of the reason Airbnb are offering shucking a once-in-a-lifetime chance to sleep in a fuck-off floating bedroom on the largest natural wonder of the world.
Their newest listing – which you can check out HERE – is up for grabs as of right now, and hoooooooly shit it is something:
The epic listing is a partnership with the soon-to-be-released Disney sequel ‘Finding Dory’, and see you and three mates (that baby sleeps four comfortably) get cosy with not just Dory, but 100 species of jellyfish, 3,000 varieties of molluscs, millions of fishies, 133 varieties of sharks, rays and more than 30 species of whales and dolphins – all at home in the reef.
World-famoos chef Neil Perry will also be on hand to whip up your grub from sustainably-sourced local seafood and produce.
And because you can no longer talk about the beauty of the reef without mentioning the human footprint, marine biologists will also pop in to talk you through the environmental impact tourism is having on our backyard treasure and how we can all help and support its future.
If you want to call that floating bedroom your own, jump onto the listing, request to book and write a 50-500 word spiel on why you want to stay the night. Entries are open until June 30, and a winner will be announced shortly thereafter.
FKN GOOD LUCK ‘COS WHAT A RIPPER OF A PRIZE.
