Brisbane Teen In Intensive Care After Being Crushed Under Gym Equipment

A 15-year-old boy is currently in intensive care and fighting for his life after being crushed underneath equipment at a Brisbane gym.

The incident, in which the teenager is understood to have been pinned down by his neck during a work out session, occurred yesterday evening with emergency services arriving on scene at 8.30pm.

Chief executive of the Pine Rivers PCYC, Phil Schultz, says in a statement:

The person involved was a young male, who was seriously injured while exercising at the gym.

First aid was administered by PCYC staff and other members before the injured male was transferred to Lady Cilento Children’s Hospital by the Queensland Ambulance Service.

We are deeply saddened by this incident and are offering support to all PCYC Pine Rivers members and staff.

The Courier Mail reports the he was admitted in a serious condition and has since been upgraded to critical. It is believed his family is currently by his side.

The centre remains closed to the public.
